PSG vs Bayern Munich Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

PSG dropped their first points of the season at the weekend as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw away to Montpellier, but the main talking point was world record signing Neymar’s absence. Much has been made of his apparent bust up with Edinson Cavani last week, and Neymar not travelling with the squad added fuel to that fire. Fortunately for the PSG faithful he was missing due to a minor foot injury, and behind the scenes talks have cleared the air between the two star attackers.
That minor foot problem is thought to have healed well, so we can expect to see Cavani and Neymar in action again on Wednesday, a thought that can make even Bayern Munich’s stern defence a bit nervous.
PSG have looked phenomenal at times this season, winning eight of their nine competitive matches and opening their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 battering of Celtic earlier this month. Unsurprisingly, it was Neymar who found the net first in that game too, and with five goals in six appearances for PSG it’s hard to look beyond him for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
The opposition have their own talisman though, and he comes in the form of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish marksman has been in typically lethal form this season with eight goals in seven appearances for Bayern Munich. He is responsible for half of Bayern’s league goals this season and scored 30 Bundesliga goals last season. He also netted eight in just nine Champions League outings, so he looks an equally fantastic choice to score anytime at 4/5.
Lewandowski may be in fine form, but the rest of Bayern Munich have been left exposed at times this season. Their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season came to a premature end when they lost to Hoffenheim in gameweek three, and Friday night saw them let slip a two goal lead at home to Wolfsburg to drop another two points, pushing them down to 3rd in the table.
The Bundesliga champions’ away record in the Champions League isn’t the best either. They have lost four of their last six trips away in the competition, including an unforgiveable 3-2 loss at Rostov. They are also without their captain Manuel Neuer at the moment, with David Alaba, Thiago, and Arjen Robben also high profile absentees. With PSG in such good form at the moment odds of 17/20 for them to win look very good value for money, so we’re backing that along with a 2-1 correct score predictions at 8/1.
